The Suburban Woman’s Club of Lexington, Inc. is a charitable club dedicated to service in our community. We work to improve the general life of the community through educational forums, assistance to recognized charities, and through involvement in various service and leadership projects.

  • We are a small club of fewer than 50 members.
  • Our major fund-raiser is the Horse Farm Tours, held on the third Friday of the Month in May, June, July, August and October.
  • We are members of the Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs, (KFWC), a statewide organization of women's clubs.
  • We are members of the General Federation of Women's Clubs(GFWC), an international organization of women's clubs.

Requirements to join:

“The qualifications for membership shall be intelligence, character, ability and the willingness to serve the Club according to the stated purpose.” - from SWCL By-laws.

  • By transfer from another federated club

Or all of the following:

  • Attend one General meeting
  • Attend one Department meeting,
  • Attend a new member orientation meeting.

Invitations to membership will be sent and should be returned to the Membership Chairman with dues within 30 'days.

Requirements of members:

  • Actively participate in the programs and projects of the
    Club.
  • Participate in the major fund raiser and other club projects

Meetings:

General meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month, excluding January, July and August; and on the first Saturday in December.

Four General meetings will be dinner meetings (September, October, April, May); Five will be will be luncheon meetings (November, December, February, March, and June).

Department meetings are held as announced.  Departments are:

  • Conservation
  • Education
  • Fine Arts
  • Home Life
  • International Affairs
  • Public Affairs

 All members are invited to all department meetings .

Dues= Are $50.00 per year

New members pay prorated dues of $4.25 a month or part thereof.

Membership with all privileges and responsibilities begins as soon as dues are paid. Installation ceremonies are held as decided by the Board of Directors.
